Stone Mountain State Park, NC - kitchen from Hutchison homestead

We were recently at Stone Mountain State Park in NC. There is a log cabin at the base of the mountain where a family lived (survived) under challenging circumstances. The log cabin is open to visitors. Seeing the wood stove, working fireplace, and cast iron on the wall, I took a few pics with my phone under bad lighting. Sorry the quality isn't better.

Nothing new here (pardon the pun), but I thought it might be of interest.

That looks just like my back yard...without the mountain :D

All joking aside...a beautiful view...That log cabin was pretty well equipped...lots of cast iron cookware, a fireplace and a cook stove.

And it has a wood floor...lot of those early cabins had dirt floors

Thank you for sharing! Very cool. Is that a Waterman hanging on the wall? And to think those pieces were new when they were hung there.

It looks like a Waterman with football-shaped cups. Here's a screenshot of an enlarged picture. (I adjusted the color balance and contrast hoping to enhance some details.)

Overall the cast iron seems to be significantly in different states of degradation, especially considering the iron near the fireplace.

I wondered if some of the iron is representative of the pans the family used but not original. So I called the park to ask. The person I spoke to said the cabin had been abandoned at some point and was later taken completely apart, treated to preserve the wood, and reassembled. He did not know for sure but guessed that the pans are more likely representative than original.

This waffle iron was in the visitor's center for the park.  I'm guessing it is original equipment, so-to-speak.
