#10 3-leg dutch oven.... Birmingham Stove??
« on: October 23, 2023, 10:19:52 PM »
A friend asked me to clean up a 3-leg dutch oven. His intent is to sell it. When I saw it, I told him he could get more for it if it looked decent. On the lid is "10", on the bottom is "MADE IN USA" and "10". The lid has a tab in the center, which I found difficult to locate a picture on the web, but I DID find one.  Is this a Birmingham Stove dutch oven?? If so, any idea on the value?

Looks like an early disamatic automated molded lid with the tab handle - late 1960's to early 1970's. A new Lodge #10 sells for about $65 on their website. The one in your photo would make a good user if the tab lid isn’t an issue. I would say it’s on par with a new Lodge. It looks like it is in pretty good condition. Shouldn’t be too difficult to clean up.

With no basting points and the tab handle, I'd say Birmingham. :scratchchin:

Thank you for that information. If it is, indeed, a BSR, is $65 still a reasonable asking price? Without any information, when I first saw it I told my friend that I would be comfortable starting at $50... Looking forward to seeing how this looks when it's finished. Who knows?? It might become mine!

as Russell has stated, definitely a BSR, late 60s, early 70s.  with no major pitting, $60 to $70 would be a good price for it with a good seasoning, keep in mind that BSR camp ovens are deeper than other camp ovens and will cook more variety of food.

Talk about perfect, all you need is the 12 and 14 to go with it.

Thank you!  I really like that dutch oven! But I will pass on this one myself.... If I ever get another dutch oven to compliment the Wagner I already have, I will get a bigger one.

I don't anticipate doing any outdoor cooking, but who knows??
