Teakettle: Antique, Vintage or Current-Era?
« on: July 19, 2024, 01:17:17 PM »
This ad is from a 1978 country store catalog. The teapot shown looks a lot like one that could be antique, but these were still being manufactured in the 1970's. The ad states it weighs 13 pounds, so if you are ever looking for an antique teakettle, bring a scale with you. An antique one would weight less. The ad doesn’t state the origin of the item being sold, but at that time, it still could have been made at a stove manufacturer along the Atlantic coast. They were still making stoves there at this time. You could call it vintage now, but antique it is not.
While I’m at it, this catalog also contains a chain mail pot scrubber. So don’t think that all of these are as old as the Flea Marketeers tell you. Of course, 1978 was over 45 years ago!
