I guess the word has gotten out in the family

It seems that the word has gotten out in the family that I know how to clean up cast iron! This weekend, an uncle of my wife’s said, “I have these two skillets……”

They are in the oven at the moment getting clean…..

One is what I think might be a BSR #5, the other is a Griswold #8. I cannot WAIT to see how these turn out. Uncle is 80-something, and these belonged to his mother.

Agreed, a person who can restore cast iron will usually be a popular family member.

I like doing this for people, especially when they have some way-back family ties.
Uncle is REALLY wanting some corn bread, but we won't be able to take these to him for another week.

Well, we're back in town for a funeral tomorrow. I brought the skillets to present to Uncle. I am looking forward to seeing the look on his face when he sees them.
