Gene Dietzenbach saved the day and sold me the missing lid for my Vollrath Colony Chicken Fryer.  It was a perfect transaction!  Gene has an amazing stash of CI and I am already working on my second order.

Thanks Gene!

I just wanted to say that everybody on here is great.  I've never been to a forum where people were this friendly- Seriously!  I have a few too many hobbies and visit online forums for all of them.  Most of the time (well all of the time except here) the people on there are not only opinionated, but downright rude in delivering them.  With this site, if I say something ignorant or that goes against ya'lls opinion ya'll just politely steer me in the right direction.  I've been struggling with cast iron cookware for years and ya'll have changed my whole experience.  Even if I did have to create a new email account just to get in lol.

Thanks guys and gals!

The very reason I joined Richard, and I try to carry that on as a member. When I tell people about the site, I tell them that everyone is welcome. No need to be a big time collector. You just have to like cast iron, and other vintage cookware.

I bought two early "Wagner" skillets (#11 & #12) from Brian Vick that were beautiful.  Glossy with almost a mirror like cooking surfaces..the sort of cleaning and seasoning job I only dream about.  They both sat perfectly flat and had no cracks, carbon gunk, or other flaws.  Both skillets were literally ready to use-which I did (after a few hours of just admiring them).

Brian gave me a great price...really more of a 'user price' despite the fact that both skillets were collector level quality.

The packaging job was fantastic and the box clearly marked...so much so that the post office employees were practically tip toeing around with it.  The skillets were snug as bugs...no easy task with skillets so large!

The whole transaction was fast and smooth.  Brian went ahead and shipped the skillets even before receiving my money-despite this being our first transaction together.  He sent great pictures and was very communicative during the whole process.  He made it clear that he wanted to make sure that I would be happy with the skillets.

Above all, Brian is really nice...no high pressure sales pitches...very communicative.. just a pleasure to deal with.

I will be doing more business, I hope, in the future, with Brian.  The skillets I got from him are literally some of the nicest of my collecting.  If you are new to collecting and want some collector level pieces without selling a kidney or getting a migraine....I would recommend dealing with Brian.

Thanks again Brian :)

Perry - Well....his skillets sure are  ;D

If my review seems 'too glowing'...blame it on those skillets...they are pretty enough to induce madness :)

Brian - Oops....corrected my post to reflect the correct skillet size of 12 not 10.....still recovering from 'skillet madness' here...

The #11 just got done cooking up a bunch of Astronomy Domine sweet corn (a corn breed being developed by a local friend of mine Alan Bishop). I don't boil my corn...just cut it off the cob and cook the kernels with a little butter.  Needless to say, the #11 was much happier cooking corn than that danged turkey bacon....

I still can't believe how lovely these skillets are....and so big.  I am going to get some serious arms lifting these two!

I have to admit that for a long time I shied away from Wagner just because I did not know much about them.  These early Wagners really are beautifully cast....like a nice Erie (or maybe nicer than some of the rougher ones that I have seen) or early Grizzy in terms of quality. Beats me why they don't quite fetch as much as Grizzys...

Continuing my iron shopping spree....I bought two skillets from Blake Williams: Griswold Slant logo EPU #8 and a "Wagner" #6.  Both were in great condition: perfectly flat, no cracks, scratches, or carbon buildup.  Both were ready for a nice fresh coat of seasoning...and then ready for cooking!

Blake priced both of these pieces really low...like low end on the 'user' scale despite both of them being in great condition.

The packaging was excellent....both skillets were sung' in their wrapping..you could literally shake the box and toss it around without any movement.  These were shipped this out extremely fast...I was not expecting these for another day or so.

Blake was a pleasure to deal with.  Very communicative and provided excellent pictures that really gave me a full view of the pieces.  No pressure to buy. and willing to accommodate my buying limitations.  I kept debating whether to purchase the pans this month or next...and Blake patiently waited for me to make up my mind :)

I will be buying more pieces from Blake...especially since he has a huge inventory :)

Thanks Blake :)

Hello,

I bought the National #8 from Scott Jarvis.  It's a beautiful skillet, every bit as good as described and pictured.  Scott shipped the item right away and used lots of great packaging.  He was also very friendly and responded to all of my emails quickly.

Cheers,

Jon

Just purchased 3 Wapak skillets from Chuck Rogers, super smooth transaction and I wouldn't hesitate to do business with him again--in fact I look forward to it!

BTW, I thought I was doing a pretty good job packing my items up for shipping, but Chuck has taken it to a whole 'nother level--I've never seen such careful and thoughtful packaging on any item I've ever received!

Thanks again Chuck!

You are quite welcome Brad, I'm glad you like the Wapaks. I always pack pieces like glass. They are way to important to lose due to poor packing, and I have to protect against poor handling by the carrier.

Looking forward to doing business again also Brad. No problems at all with this sale. Just let me know what you're looking for. I just may have it, or can try to find it.

I purchased a Griswold #6 small logo skillet, a Lodge #8 deep skillet with a heat ring and lid, and a fabulous Griswold #10 muffin/popover pan from Chuck Rogers.  The items were extremely well packed, the items arrived beautifully seasoned - I am very happy with them.  My spouse even commented positively on them (and he usually is saying "pots and pans, pot and pans, all I hear is pots and pans").  I am in love with my muffin pan and run my fingers across the back of it  for no reason at all only when he is not in the room  ;))  It was such a smooth and seamless transaction that I think I'm going to do it again.  ::)
