Thank you Mary. I'll take the muffin pan carressing as a compliment.  ;D I'm just glad I could find one for you. For some reason, they are getting hard to find in these parts. Now be sure and take some pics when these are being used, and if you have any issues, let me know. I'll be glad to help.

I know what you mean Perry - I'm laughing along with you.  ;D

He has another one that looks like this - (all symbols represent intelligible noises he makes to replace actual words he says while smiling):

&*((*&&&& "POTS AND PANS"  &&^&*% "POTS AND PANS" #%@!*(%@*&!@POTS AND PANS"

I, of course, take immediate offense, and try really, really hard to look indignant and angry, and then I begin to smile, and then the both of us are laughing hysterically.  [smiley=hysterical.gif] [smiley=hysterical.gif] [smiley=hysterical.gif] [smiley=hysterical.gif] [smiley=hysterical.gif]

;D  ;D  ;D That sounds like Deb on some days, but most of the time she's a bit nicer about it. She has her favorite pieces, that's for sure, but she thinks I have too many favorite pieces. She dreads it when I bring home another WI. "Don't you have enough of those blank things?"   ;D

NOPE, Sure don't    :P :P

Perfect Perry.  :)

I believe all complaining spouses and family members are interchangeable.  We could do a rotation, put them on tour, so at least if we have to listen to the same story, it would be barking out of a different face for a change!   [smiley=argue.gif]

My wife is different in some ways. She has never questioned what I bring home....never has told me not to buy any more cast iron. The only comment she might make is, "oh that nice" or something like that. She is usually the first one to jump in the truck when I want to take a road trip or go to a flea market. We got married 37 years ago today...and I guess I did well training her.   :)

I recently sold a piece to forum member Ryan Prasad and the transaction was very smooth and the payment was prompt. If anyone has a chance to deal with him in the future I am sure you will have the same experience! Thanks Ryan.

Thanks to Chuck Rogers for his watchful eye in helping me find a couple Griswold Large Logo Smooth Bottom skillets for my grand daughter's wedding present.  She is only 6 months old but hey, no time like now to start the collection so she can learn to cook in them from her Poppy and Grandma.

The two skillets were in fantastic condition and only need a good scrubbing to get them clean.  No gunk on them just want to be sure that they are sanitary before I cook in them.

If anyone wants tips on how to pack CI for shipping Chuck is the guy to go to for advice.  The skillets cam wrapped in bubble wrap and loads of peanuts enclosed in bubble wrap.  No way were these skillets going to bounce around in the heavy box nor were they going to poke through the box sides.

Thanks again Chuck.  Look forward to doing more deals with you.
Have a great day!
Bryce

Glad to help out Bryce. We'll get that little grand baby of yours all set up with some nice iron. I was happy to find some piece that were as clean as those were. I know you wanted to do the cleaning,a nd seasoning yourself, but I'm glad I saved you some work by finding some clean ones. I'm sure you'll still give them the special "Poppy" touch just for her.

I get alot of iron packed in peanuts. I hate them, and had a bunch of them in a big box. Alone, they stink for packing, but when I seal them in those bags so they can't shift around, they make a nice thick cushion for the iron. Like a big comfy pillow. ;D

I'll be on the look out for more of them nice ones for you. I have a full set of them, and so does my daughter (minus the #2  ;) ), so the rest will be yours.

Mary I am still laughing with this thread here. Some good laughs. We said we could swap spouses and listen to somebody complain about the SOS, and at least it would be somebody different saying it, thats some funny stuff.

Knock Knock, hello, do I know you, yes, I am with the WAGS partner exchange, I see, what is in that stack of boxes there beside of you, oh those are the pieces of cast iron that I brought along with me as part of this exchange, step in my Fair Princess, you go get next to the fire and warm up, I'll get these boxes of cast iron inside in the warm ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hi Perry,

Now that I see it again, I'm laughing right along with you again.  Your recent scenario is funny!

And, as I type this, my spouse is heading down to our P.O. Box to pick up the mail.  And I'm here to tell you, that I did my very best, when we were dividing chores for today, to get mailbox detail. Why did I do that you ask?  Well Perry, I have a skillet coming from Chuck - my favorite - antique cast iron from a foreign land.  Now, its very possible it won't be there today, but you never know.  So I have been preparing myself, with the invisible armor to deflect another rendition of &*((*&&&& "POTS AND PANS"  &&^&*% "POTS AND PANS" #%@!*(%@*&!@POTS AND PANS".  I have some facial expressions of disapproval at the ready for appropriate reply.

'I'm tired of goin to the mail box and bein your pack mule for you and your boyfriend'.

Sorry Mary. I get goin and laughin and I can't stop.  :-[ ;D ;D

Well that's funny too Perry.  But, so far there have been no accusations of American boyfriends - most of the irritations have been directed at the number of pans and the cost of shipping to Canada.  And, the last shipment of iron I got from Chuck got positive reviews from my fella.  He was also impressed with the packing job.

Also, I wouldn't want to drag Chuck's good name into this, after all, he's only a innocent by-stander and not around to defend himself you know, from rumors of an unsavory nature that could emerge from this thread.  Additionally, I'm sorry to have to report that I have far too many handles, and my surface ain't too smooth.  The skillet is in better shape than I am.  :)

Ohh, I hear the door...my fella has returned, and without a box.   [smiley=clap.gif]  I'm safe for another day and will be able to pick up said package on my own and try to mix it in with the others and hope he doesn't notice.

Ahh, the trials and tribulations of being a cast iron junkie.

Allow me add Larry Pesek to the "Great Transaction" list.

After I inquired about an item he had listed for sale he sent pictures, we settled on a price, and he packed and shipped it promptly.

And when I say he packed it... he REALLY! packed it... double boxing and lots and lots of tight padding to protect it.  It took me over a half hour just to get to the pan!  But that's good.  Thank you Larry!

Aww shucks....  you're gunna make me blush... :-[

I learned about packing here at WAGS... I learned about seasoning here at WAGS...  I learned that dealing with WAGS members is much better than dealing on E-bay...  I learned that the price of a WAGS membership is absolutely invaluable to those wanting to use and collect Cast Iron...

So thanks to all of you as the learning never stops here at WAGS!

Sandy, I bought 2 WW Magnalite roaster from Larry. They arrived yesterday and the quality of the packing made me PM him to offer to up size the check to offset the cost of packing materials, which he refused. Hope he gives us a heads up here next time he has some Al or CI for sale. BTW, Larry, any idea where I could find the trivets for the roasters?

I also had the pleasure of a fine transaction with Larry. He was more than fair on price, packed the items most carefully - I really had to dig to get to the contents.  ;D  And, in the spirit of kindness, and Yank (his word)/Canuck (my word) relations - he sent a nice bonus.  I am very pleased.  Thanks Larry!

I recently bought an Ebelskiver pan from Tom Neitzel.  I am very pleased with the transaction, the packing, his good communication and the lovely pan.  He sent pictures, and his verbal description was spot on and he shipped it quickly.  Thanks Tom
