Here’s one for the cast iron X-file book. It looks like an early Century #8 with legs welded to it. Those are some long legs. Someone must have wanted to cook over a bonfire with that one.

I was taught to cook on the coals from the fire not the blazing fire,  easier to control the heat. They must have not gotten that memo.

Upon closer scrutiny, the weld almost resembles J-B Weld, or some other two-part heat resistant epoxy, with it's smooth exterior, absence of weld marks and lack of rust.

I think you are correct. I see no sign of heat penetration on the inside of the pan. Like one would expect with welding.

Would brazing generate enough heat to produce said marks?
With only one inside photo and one close-up outside shot  and a fairly long distance outside shot to go on, it is hard to identify the method with which they attached the legs. The outside photo shows white lines away from the actual attachment area, maybe residue from preparation for attachment, leading to my last post. Brazing was one of my first thoughts after actual welding (whether stick, mig, tig, or other, but the picture looks like someone mixed up a two-part chemical and smeared it on the skillet and then pressed the leg into the mass and let it cure.
Really brings out the redneck skill factor.

That stuff works, I've seen it fix motorcycles engines on trails.

I used it one time to patch a hole in an exhaust pipe on my '67 Chevy pick-up truck, lasted several years.
