Have a friend that can get me soda ash. Does any one have experience or suggestions in using this for an electro set up? I haven't been able to find Arm & Hammer's Washing Soda. Any idea on what concentration to use.  Cup/Gallons?

Isn't soda ash just another name for washing soda... sodium carbonate (NA2CO3)?  We need one of our resident chemists to give us a quick lesson.

Dwayne,

Soda ash is Sodium carbonate, the same as washing soda, or PH+.

Thanks, that is what I thought, but wanted to make sure.

Here's another reference page with some extra information.

http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-soda-ash.htm

Soda Ash is a more industrial name for washing soda or Sodium carbonate and as such may not be as pure.  Check the purity claims and get something that's at least in the high 90% range, then use it the same as you would use washing soda.
