I'd hang the DO with the  outer bottom and inside bottom facing the anode, and then rotate it during the run time.  I only use the reverse electrolysis (center anode) on tea kettles, to date, and plan to use on some deeper kettles in future.  My DO's have come out fine using the  2 plate electro.

Older pics below... I now use non-conductive hangers from the slotted strip, and use a jumper wire to conduct to the DO.....

Great pics Cheryl, thanks. ;) So how do you attach the jumper wire to the CI...that has to be good or it could possibly arc there. And do you have to change the contact point to clean where the original contact point was? Sorry for all the questions, but the guides never mention this stuff.

From the center negative rod to the piece using these...

Usually clamp the C clamp to the piece, and the spring clips over the rod... all depends on the piece etc.

When I rotate the piece, I also move the clamp/to a new connection point.

Gotcha. Do the c-clamp take a beating? I have lots of those and vice grips too..but do they get all corroded?

The C Clamps are fine, as they are negatively charged... so if they get any rust from 'hanging' around, they get derusted along with the CI.. ;D

Drilled a whole straight through the body of the clamp, and use a SS screw, ss washer, and ss nut to connect the connector from the wire.

The crimp connector and exposed stranded copper wire is the weak point.
I cut the wire about 6 inches longer than what I predict I will need, so the end with crimp connector can be snipped off, wire stripped for clean stranded, new connector crimped on... takes about 5 minutes one time per year.   I buy the stranded wire by the foot... should be rated for 20 Amps or higher.

Make sure your C Clamps are NOT coated.  The coated C clamps will not conduct. <voice of experience>.  Lowes is the only place I have been able to get the non-epoxy, bare metal ones........

And if you think that you can just drop the coated ones in the Lye bath and strip the coating....... not happening........  ;D

Well, cranked it up this morning and it's bubbling away. Only casualty so far is my poor thumb. 1/8 inch drill bit broke on the LAST hole I needed to drill and thumb was a little too close to the action. Buried the broken bit stub into it to the hilt. There is no appropriate smiley.
Hopefully the rest of this process will involve less swearing...

Just made another important discovery. Don't place lids right side up. They trap air bubbles that way.  I only swore a little.  ;)

Lid came out great.Took awhile ..24 hours in the electro but my charger is only 15 amps.
I couldn't place the bottom like you show in the pics...my tub isn't deep enough. So I made a ring out of sheet SS and suspended it inside the DO. Seems to be working good..lots of tiny bubbles flowing to the ring. When the insides done I'll switch to the outer SS.

Knew that was coming.. ;D
Pics of what..the electro setup, or the finished DO?
Pics of the DO "cooking" right now would be hard to see because of that rusty brown foam floating in the electrolyte. But when it's done I should be able get a pic. I'll wait until it's all done and seasoned and post some pics.  8-)

Jeesh, one like mine just went for 300.00! Near as I can tell it's the exact same Griswold #9 DO. Only thing different is bottom of mine says 834 A, and that one says 834 B. Lid number is the same. What's the dif between A and B?

Man, you could make some pretty serious money reconditioning old CI.  :o Now I know why you and others spend so much time at it.  ;)

6 pcs in 3 years... 3 of them to a personal friend(one person)users ,3 to collectors(parts).  So, I realized early on, that I'm not going to get rich doing any of this, I will however become poorer... ;)

Hey you can't take it with you!
Well...maybe a couple pieces... ;D

If I send pics of my electro setup, you're going to yell at me and put it in a sticky titled "How NOT to setup an electro tank!!"  ;D
I really do need a bigger tub...it's awful tight in there, anode to iron.
