Nickle plated help
« on: March 15, 2014, 02:08:18 PM »
Can I use electrolysis to clean a nickle plated CI skillet?

Just got a nice Erie #7.

Thanks!

See below.
Depends on the condition of the plating, and whether there is bare iron , etc.  :)

Thanks Cheryl!  Since the nickel might be chipped on the handle, I decided to take the plunge and get the lye from Lowes and setup the lye bath.

I'm attaching the "before" pictures.  Hopefully it'll clean up as nicely as the old Wagner skillet in your link.
