Heavy Calcium deposits removal ??
« on: January 24, 2015, 07:34:49 PM »
I have several 6 quart tea kettles with heavy calcium deposits.
When I say heavy they are 1/2 to 3/4 thick.
Have tried the vinegar with very little effect.

anyone have experience with this?

Yep, yep, yep.....

White Vinegar. Slow Continuous boil, change out, and boil somemore.

The ERIE took about 12 hours of boiling....

and then....

pick tools to loosen sheets, and boil some more.

This only works on tea kettles that have no cracks, or breaches.

Slow agonizing process.

Many collectors just 'don't ever open the lids and look inside'... ;D

Cheryl now you aren't talking about anybody in particular, ARE YOU?  :-[ ;D ;D

I only have a few teakettles. Mostly for that reason too. But I'd like to have one of them Aluminum Wagners, they are kind of oblong. Those sure are pretty all cleaned and shiny. If somebody sees one out there and you can holler at me, I'd appreciate it.  :)
