Looks like the seller got serious with an electric wire brush on this one.
Too bad, because you don't see too many of these circa 1960's split heat ring Griswold/Wagner skillets.

What was the purpose of all that heat ring etc  on the bottom of a no.3 skillet, Was this supposed to make the skillet more usable on a glass or ceramic cook top.

Came out with the start of Teflon coatings. Did all of these have Teflon, I don't know.

The #5 and #8 skillets like this were Teflon coated. The heat ring design could very well have been an update to "modernize" these skillets back in the 1960's.

The skillet in the original post actually sold for $16.50 + shipping. Two people thought it was worth bidding on in that condition.

I have seen many, many of these Wagner "Grid Bottom" Skillets.

Any and all advertising indicates that the Grid Bottom Skillets, which is what Wagner Called them, were all Teflon Coated.

The color of the Teflon Coating varied depending on whether it was sold as a 'Wagner', or... a Griswold....

I also have a bit more information on these since the referenced post above.
Including an expanded list of pieces beyond the ADS shown in the link above.

  Hopefully someday soon, I will be able to post the information to the WAGS Foundry list or PDF section.(Secure sections)...  :) :)
