OK.. You guy's what's the most you've ever paid

The most I've paid for a vintage piece was $42 for a Griswold No. 10, pop over pan, variation 10. It's pretty rusty but no pitting that I can see so far. It's waiting for warmer weather so I can set up an outdoor electro tank.

The absolute most I've paid is $56 (retail) for a brand new Lodge Logic 12" camp oven a couple years ago, and that was a pretty good deal even then but not what I'd call a steal.

The best deals I've made so far were the single notch #3 Lodge skillet I got for $12.50 and the #3 Wagner pie logo skillet for (IIRC) $8.

I find stuff in the $2-$3 range often enough but it's usually pretty bad, sometimes even toast.

My mother-in-law gave me a Wagner 1060 to replace the skillet I broke. She picked it up at a yard sale and I'm pretty sure she didn't give more than $5 for it. $5 is her limit for anything at garage/yard sales. She also gave me a #6 Griswold small logo with grooved handle that she picked up at another yard sale ... $2. This is the piece that got me interested in collecting.

The reason we are not getting responses here is because if people said what the most was they ever paid for a piece of cast iron, most folks would not believe them anyway. So why go there?  :-/ ;D ;D

gotta agree with you Perry.    it is hard to fly under the radar at times, you know.   that's what I call it..........not wanting folks to think you are bragging or anything about what you got.  or tell you if you paid too much.  which is your point.............they wouldn't believe you anyhow. :D

I know of a 2800 / 633 wheat pan with PN that was in an antique shop. Offered at $30. Buyer (not me) did not have any books with him, so he offered $20 and bought it.  I have seen the pan, barely needs to be cleaned ....

I saw in the paper about 3 years ago a auction that read cast iron pans and dutch ovens so I went . Got there at 8:30 am it started at 9 am so I could look over the cast iron to see if it was worth staying for ..First thing that caught my eye was a #10 Giswold tite-top slant logo lid and bottomm with a griwold trivit. It was a very nice dutch oven and I could see that it was ghost marked erie, some of you may even remember this dutch oven in a older post...Then I got to looking at the stack of pans about 15 of then or so stacked from bigger to smaller and the biggest was only #8 wagner ware skillet , but as I was bigging through this stack of skillets and flipping them over to see what was all there I flipped over a #5 skillet and low and behold it was a #5 Griswold large block logo with hear ring :D I was very surprised to say the least. I play it pretty cool and stacked all the skillets back up just like they were and loudly pronouned what a pole of junk and walked over and got my bid card ... :-? 7 hours latter they got to the cast iron and let me tell you I was glad because out of shear boredoom I was bidding on stuff I didn't need nor really want ... :-/ Well the auction started and it was choice to the high bidder he/she could take one or all for high bid but had to pay high bid for each piece they took.. I won at $35 dollars and as I walked up they tried to hand me the dutch oven  ;D I said thank you I will take that and they tried to start again I stooped then in mid bid and said I am not done and they all looked at me as if I was nuts but they did stop and I dug out the #5 Griswold and they really thought I was nuts you should of seen the looks it was prieceless ;D I turned away went straight to the the desk and paid for everything I bought and left.. Again some of you may remember this skillets befor and after post I did ...It was the uglyest #5 you ever saw and a few here even said I might of over paid until they saw it cleaned up ...it was one of the best looking skillets I had ever saw ...lol :D

Now the worst deal just happened this week I bought a #14 griswold and was not paying attention to what it really was off ebay .. One of them wow look 3 minutes left and no one is bidding kind of things so I drooped a $160 dollar bid and won with 20 dollar shipping..As I was patting myself on the back I saw that it was a #14 Griswold but one that was made by wagner  >:( :'( ;D Not very happy with myself over this blunnder to say the least..
