#8 Bean Pot/Dutch oven Does the price seem right?
« on: May 02, 2014, 09:35:43 PM »
What is this item?  Looks Lodge to me, bean pot?  And why did it go for so much money?  I couldn't find another one like it.  The bottom portion is quite deep.  Is this worth the money or someone got bid happy?

Looks like 3 bidders went nuts.  It is a marriage -- old kettle (made by???) with a newer lodge lid.

Looks like a backwords seven on the  bale attachments, could it be a Lodge pot?

I found this piece while I was looking for something to help ID a piece I just picked up.   I can take pictures of my piece and the bail attachments later today.  I don't know much about the older lodge pieces,  I've just started to run across them here.   My pot has a bunch of initials around the 8 on the bottom.   I believe there are 4 of them.   I don't know if they are makers marks or if Lodge even had them.  I will include pictures of those, also.

Here are the pictures.  I circled what I call initials on the bottom of the pot.  I see a K, Y, H, C.  Let me know if I should move this information to the Lodge board

It's a flat bottom kettle which was made by Lodge some years back. I traded for one last week. Think I have $7 in it. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
They also made round bottom/three legged versions as well at the same time frame.
