Wagner smooth bottom skillets plated
« on: April 03, 2004, 07:13:39 PM »
I saw a Wagner stylized logo smooth bottom skillet today at a flea market and it appeared to be nickel plated on the outside only.  I dont remember seeing many plated smooth bottom Wagners.  Are they common?   And the one I saw was the illusive #1059, but plated.

Jerry,
I don't know about these Wagner skillets but have seen some smooth bottom hammered Wagner skillets nickel plated.  It could be the reason you don't see many smooth bottom plated pans is because they are later and it seems that the makers of the later pans did not plate as much as in the earlier years or pre-WWII.

Most of the smooth bottom 1059's and a lot of the smooth 1054's I've seen have been the plated version. I've never understood why there seems to be so many of these sizes in the plated version when I don't seem to see a lot of the other sizes in the smooth bottom versions that are plated.

Harry and others; have you seen any chrome plated Wagner pieces or did they only nickel plate?  I don't remember seeing any chrome plated pieces.

Harry,
I would agree with you.  I have not seen any WW chromed pieces.  I have seen Favorite (Piqua) chromed pieces and have several unused skillets and lids in my basement now.

LOL, I now have no excuse for what I have, as my lye bath is non-existant and and my electrobath is not yet set up.  I should have no excuse for finding pieces now,  RIGHT??????????????
