iron mountain
« on: January 01, 2005, 11:38:38 PM »
I picked up an iron mountain skillet #8 this week that is an off white porcelain.  Anyone ever see one like this ?  I took a photo of it next to a red&cream skillet to show the color , I'll try to post the photo here.

Well maybe not  [smiley=Drunk.gif] Did't work

I haven't seen on JR.  John Myers may have something to say as he is pretty well versed on the IM pans.

John,
I have seen one or two plated IM skillets on ebay the past year or two.

I would say it was an 8, too, but don't remember clearly.

John,
Did you know-
A 1940 Griswold catalog shows the line of  "Iron Mountain Cooking Utensils-Polished Cast Iron"  and the same line on the opposite  page as  "Unground Cooking Utensils-Plain Cast Iron"

The two lines look exactly the same with the same Iron Mountain handles and in all the same sizes and types of pieces but the second line is, apparently, unground.  I would expect the long griddles to be exactly the same since neither would have been ground.  No paper labels are shown on the unground line but they are on the IM line.

John, I only have the 1035 italic lid and I've never seen any of the other sizes.

Some things of interest:  The No.9 1089 p/n cover on this post-
http://www.griswoldandwagner.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=irongeneral;action=display;num=1104882991
is a low dome and the inside lip does not follow the contour of the lip extensions.

The No.8 cover above, p/n 1035, is a high dome cover and the inside lip does follow the lip contour.  Girswold sure was inconsistant.
