Teflon coated cast iron?
« on: April 10, 2005, 01:18:01 PM »
A friend brought over a # 8 Teflon coated C/I skillet yesterday for me to clean. It has an "R" on the bottom near the handle and an"R" on the underside of the handle and an "8" on the top of the handle. Bottom heat ring similiar to chef skillet at the top of page 235 of Blue Book. Would this be a Wagner ??? Any help on this greatly appreciated... Duke

Here is the rest of the book write up if you dont have one. No part number, has the (3) ribs on the bottom as you described. 10 1/2" skillet. Cream Teflon coating inside. Not an Erie piece....Value....$30

I know of a Wagner No.8 teflon coated skillet with the label still in it.  The teflon is grey-green in color and I think it was made in the late 1950's but could be early 60's?

More than a year ago, I found a Griswold #10 dutch oven in a store that I swear was Teflon coated on the inside.  Wish now I'd bought it.... ::)

I have a double 90 that is nickel on the out side and has some kind of slick finish on the inside, could this be teflon coated?

I wouldn't think so Joseph because the 90 double skillets date to before Teflon.  But might have been added later by an employee of the "Teflon Works".  Was it Dupont who invented Teflon?

Looked at Google for Teflon.

Who would have thought Teflon was invented in 1938 and first marketed in 1945?

This one was burnt BAD but you could see remnants of the creme color on the sides. 10 1/2 skillet on the bottom. Put it in the cooker yesterday and it seasoned real nice tonight-minus the Teflon.
Thank you men & ladies for your help as always!
