Deep Hammered Skillet

Anyone have a idea who made this?  Only marking is 8 9 and a small capital A. It's a flea market find.

I agree with Harry.I believe they have another style of peening that is deeper than this style also. I say this cause I've seen the same markings on both styles of peening. Also some have H/R and some are smooth bottom.

Heres the other style peening. I have the skillet, can't seem to acquire a lid. The basting rings differ also. One day when I get a few more pieces, maybe I'll figure out what's what.

Can I ask what characteristics tip you all off that it is Chicago Hardware?

The way it's marked is the main give away to me. These were talked about awhile back on the forum, and that was the way I understood it, that this marking was CHF.  The one's I have all are smooth bottom, with different style handles, deep peening, same style numbers. The numbers on the shallow peening seem to match also. The largest I've seen is the 8810 I have. It's 11-3/4" in  dia.

Dwayns, The peening style, lid handle, basting rings, skillet handle, and numbering style and pattern are all CHF styles. I was a little iffy because of the heat ring, which I'm not familiar with,  but there were too many similarities that made it a CHF. I have a #3 skillet with a CHF label the has the same peening, handle and numbering as the piece in the beginning of this thread.

On the foundries list there is a fully marked CHF with fine peening. Will P, is that your skillet. The handle on my deep 89b skillet, matches the handle on Dwaynes skillet , mine has no H/R though.

My dutch oven cover is a twin to Dwaynes skillet cover and I had wondered who made it. Thank you all. Second I have a griddle, nickel plated, which I took to be a hammered Favorite piece. The only markings on it were the large numbers 999. The hammering looks like the skillet cover that Ed's looking for. Small and deep peening all around the sides. After reading this post I think I can safely say that both these pieces are CHF.

I have this style griddle also. CHF is what I believe them to be. I have not seen one in black iron yet.

Thanks Ed. I have been wondering who had made this on for quite some time and had decided to hold on to it until I had found out. About a year ago I seen one posted on Ebay that was just in a cast iron finish. I thought about bidding on it but didn't. I wonder if this was a plated griddle stripped (hard to do) or if it was made both ways.
