Clark, I'm gonna take a REAL wild guess on that #258 and say if it's the size of a #8, possibly an unmarked Crescent/Ozark?  If you look at the marked one on the foundry page, the script and handle are both pretty close to what's on yours.

Sandy has it right.   I have one just like that.   I also have one that is fully marked and also marked "Union Made"

I have the 754 and 755. In fact, one of my 754's is listed on Ebay right now if anyone is looking.  I also have a Best Made rectangular #8 griddle marked S R & Co. I'm sure you know who that is. #10 Merit skillet. #7 #8 and #8 Chicken pan with matching lid from Iron Mountain. All the IM is on ebay also..... Wait a minute, I think I'm sellin a bit too much. I better slow down a little. I didn't reinforce the floor in that extra room for nothin'.  ;D

I was with Clark when he got that number 3 with the three holes in the handle. I think he gave two pieces of bazooka bubble gum and three bottle caps for it.  ;D

Very nice find Clark.  ;) I have never seen another one like it, anybody else got one like that?

What do you THINK the p/n may be on the 5. I do not see p/n 670, which would make sense in this series of skillets. Then again maybe it's not listed in book, or it's jumped a couple hundred p/ns and I ain't seeing it, or it could be I'm over THINKING the whole thing and theres no #5  [smiley=scratchhead.gif]    ;)

There is no # 5 in the 3 hole handle that I know of. Also, there is a # 9 in the unmarked 3 digit pattern number series, with Pat # 758. This pat # is shown as a # 4 wood handle skillet in the books, but on my inventory file I show my # 9 as having pn 758 as well. I'll try and find it and take a picture later today. Nine degrees and a wind chill of 15 below at 7 a.m.. I'm so glad I live in the south where it's warm.

Thanks for the 758 info Harry, I'll ink that in my BB. We have the same warm weather today.  ::)

I did a cursory look thru about a gazillion pans without finding the # 9. Pretty sure that pattern number is good as I've had two of them and can remember wondering why the skip in pattern #'s between the 8 and 9. I'll be migrating about half my odd stuff to a shed I had built as soon as the weather gets warm enough for me to finish the inside. I'll find it and post a picture then.

OK Ed, Scratch pat # 758 for now. My inventory list shows two 3 digit # 9 Griswold skillets, pat # 758, which I bought in 1997 within a few weeks of each other, but I can't find the one I should have left. My inventory also shows a # 9 pat # 756 which is right in line with the pat # on the 7 and 8 three digit skillets, and that one I just found. I'll take a picture and post tonight or tomorrow. I have to go thru all my skillets before I move some of them and if I have a 758, I'll find it. I guess I could have entered 756 as 758. Sorry to all.

Jimmy, Not Clark, but the letter is an identifier to a particular pattern and was probably used to pay molders, identify a bad pattern, or some other qulaity control use. No significance from a collecting standpoint unless someone is trying to get all available letters of a particular style skillet.
