2 new pieces

My neighbor (whose shed/chicken coop I was rummaging around in last weekend) bought this waffle iron at a local auction yesterday.  He paid $50 for  it.  What do you all think?

I like the WI Charmayne. I picked a Wagner up yesterday myself. I didn't get the great deal you did though. Or should I say your neighbor. Of course, you got an even better deal. You got it for free  ;D ;D . I found one like it in the BB actually, but the patend date doesn't match up. The one in the BB says 1910.

As for the 3 legged kettle, I'm clueless. Is there any way you can clean up the markings so yo can read it? Sure would be nice to find out.

Charmayne,  try doing a "rubbing" like a genealogist does with a gravestone.   Lay a piece of paper over the markings and rub with a pencil held sideways or a piece of chalk... that might work...

Good idea, Charlee!  With a tiny bit of steel wool (Probably a no-no, right?) and using the rubbing technique you suggested I'm reasonably sure it's W.K.-64

I bought him some red and cream enamel Griswold stuff on ebay... he's trying to talk me into taking the wi and some cash rather than all cash as reimbursement.   :)

Could it be Wapak?

I dunno... it's definitely initials instead of a word.  It's got a much rounder bottom than the Wapak kettles in the blue book.  The closest thing I see is a sugar kettle on pg 238 of the red book... but the smallest listed there is much bigger than the one I have.

Ah, nice square WI with the alaskan handles.  Have that one, but with wooden handles.  You gonna electro or lyebath it?

My neighbor wants to try electro with the waffle iron and all the other cast iron he has laying around.  He's a mad scientist farmer type.   ;D   (I swear, his girlfriend is gonna ban me from their place when she finds out I've helped him develop a new "hobby".)   There's a big farm equipment auction this weekend so he hasn't had time to look at the set up directions.

I sure would like to know more about both these pieces.  I've been searching and reading but have found nothing. I did read somewhere on this forum that the square Wagners weren't made with Alaskan handles so this one surprised me.  It'll be interesting to see what, if anything, shows up from under all the gunk on the little pot.

Charmayne, I like that Wagner square you got there, its pretty nice. No matter who's it is, or who ends up with it. That piece looks just like Griswolds number 11 waffle iron, they copied off of each other a lot.
