Can you ID this chicken fryer??
« on: December 31, 2009, 06:15:06 PM »
This is a good size covered chicken fryer - about10-1/2" across and 3" deep.  The grooved markings are very distinctive - but there's no other marks of any sort. I get the impression of a little bit of age - but NOT great age.

Leslie could you please post a photo of the underside of the lid if it is in your possession.  This style has been discussed before and I can't remember if we have ever came to a conclusion on who made them??

Let the experts have a try at this one.

Here is my lid only, don't have the skillet.  This also came in a #8 - 10in dutch oven.  Even though the lid has dimples, there is no know tie in to BSR.
Ellis ( his daughter ) has a chicken fryer like this, Harry has/had either a skillet or lid, I have a lid only.  The dutch oven sold on ebay this fall/early winter.

Personally, my opinion only, the handle and lid dimple pattern are both BSR.  But, as I posted above, there is no known tie in.  Dwayne checked with his contacts from BSR and they did not remember this pattern.  Maybe some day we will discover more information, so for now I classify this as a strong "maybe BSR".

Nice looking piece. Lots of character to the casting too. I.E. the various flaws, flow marks, etc.

I'd like to find one myself. I've seen the pieces here and ther, but never a complete set. If I have to, i'll just pick up the pieces seperately. I like the unusual. :)

Yes, the newer style ( Century Line ) has lots more dimples, aranged in 5 rings of dimples and the size marking in the center.
