Went Junkin' Did Well??
« on: January 10, 2010, 08:37:56 PM »
Well I the Wife and I went junkin' today and I think we did quite well.  Here is what we found and a few questions.

G. F. Filley #12 Muffin Pan:  How rare are these??  Any clue what they are worth all cleaned up??
Griswold 262 Cornstick Pans x 2 (the real deal)
Griswold #9 Slant EPU Skillet
Wagner Ware #5 Ringed Skillet Cover:  Any Idea what this one is worth??
Wagner Ware Al Carder Steak Platters x 3
Wapak #7 Indian Head Medallion Skillet (very dirty!)

I know that Perry is going to ask so I will tell you how much I spent: $217.45.

Hey Will thanks for the info! Is that all the Filley is worth??  Maybe I should just take it back??   ;D ;D

The Filley was the first find of the day and my heart skipped a beat when I saw it just sitting in the dark little corner of a booth!!  I looked the pan over very well and did not see anything wrong with it so I looked at the price and  :o $39.99 and I ran to the counter and paid for it!

WW#5 lid, Are there many of these around? I'd love one but I can live with my Pyrex.

There are places to go? Out in the world? Places with heat, and accessible roads via which one may reach them?  There are flea markets and antique stores and crowds of human beings and commerce and transaction and hustle and bustle?

You must not be in Iowa.

And, here, I thought there was nothing left in the world but "comfort foods", white horizons, waiting for the snowplow, watching the woodpile shrink, and Netflix downloads of "Dexter."  I thought my cars were just yard ornaments...

Yes, Judith. I am exaggerating a bit...we actually went down to Omaha to take my daughter to the airport, Saturday (but it was too cold to take the dogs and thus we humans were on a "short leash" as the dogs needed us to come home and save them from their bladders).

BUT I do NOT recommend combining three feet of snow over three weeks, the longest cold snap in decades, rural roads, and a husband who is "on call" (and thus unable to travel more than one hour from work) for two of those three weeks.

Those conditions make for SERIOUS cabin fever and pretty much a "lost holiday season."  My elder daughter called her vacation "Winter Rehab" as that's about all she got to do: Eat. Sleep. Eat. Sleep. Take pictures of icicles. Meditate. Eat and sleep some more...

However, it's a balmy 19 degrees, today!  We have hope for a thaw, even...someday.  ;)

But the days of flea markets and vendors and yard sales and auctions seem far, far way.............................................

Nice finds Jeff. Wish iron was priced like that around here. Most shops with iron ,the folks are out of their minds on value.  This is all I got away with at auction.....

Nice finds Jeff, My experience on the 5 wagner lids has been 99% of them are nickel plated, finding a black iron one is a good days work.

I think that piece came up in another thread some time back. We were all stumped until someone came back with the patent info. Very intresting piece.
