I like to see how other people display their iron so I just thought I would post a photo of our new display

Thats pretty neat Jeff. Thanks for posting the picture. :)

Can't say I've ever seen it done that way before now.

I like the crocks. Whose idea was the vines, was that yours or your wifes?  :-/

Perry the grape vines were my wife's idea.  I collected them for her back in November before we moved.  I brought them home and put them in the basement and she went to town decorating with them.  Then I told her that I must have made a mistake because they sure looked an awful lot like poison ivy now that I think about it (just kidding of course).  Man she flipped out and I don't think she spoke to me for three or four days  ;D ;D

We got the ladder from my mom and my wife doesn't know that I commandeered it yet so I can't wait to see what happens when she gets home  :D

Hey Jeff,
Love the display, thats a cool concept. We're in the process of getting a house, so we'll be moving from our apartment to a nice sized house with plenty of room for more iron, and I've been thinking of this very same idea lately and I'd be curious to see other peoples ideas as well. I have a ton to display and not sure how I'm gonna do it yet. Here's how I currently control my users in my kitchen.

I made it so i can fit two sizes on each shelf. Starting with #0 on top  :P and then in descending order 3,4/5,6/7,8/9,10/ and a lid on the bottom.

Jacob that is a good idea and I like how the piece says Griswold on it!!  I just have my user pieces stuffed in a drawer as we have a pretty small kitchen  :-/

Very nice guys. I enjoy seeing the different ways to display cast iron collections. A nice cast iron skillet is a work of art in my book anyway and art needs to be displayed!  8-)

Hello J.P. Thats very well put. I like that. I too am of the opinion that these old pices of cast iron are works of art, not just the skillets but the other pieces too.  :)

Jacob,

Is that skillet rack an actual Griswold or did you make it or have it made?  That is a beauty.  I need some of those!!

No its not Griwold. I made it myself out of Oak and steel and traced the logo from the bottom of one of my Large Block smooth bottom skillets with pencil onto the base of the rack and burned the image in with my woodburner. Then I just used Polycrylic on the oak and Seasoned the steel portion as I do my skillets.

Here is a closer pic of it. I've sanded it down and re coated it to get a smoother finish since this picture.

Jacob, Are you into pyrographics?  Sorry for the off topic question, but I had a burning desire to ask  ;)

BTW I like both those displays. It's fun seeing how everyone either displays or stores their iron.
Some day I'll come up with a solution for my small collection.

Well, being a career Fireman I suppose I'm intersted in Pyroanything.  :P Hahaha. Nothing too fancy, but I do enjoy toying with it from time to time and I thought it gave this piece something extra. Thanks!

Jacob you probably could make a killing selling these display racks but I highly doubt you could get rights to produce them with the Griswold logo on them.

I am sure that I am not the only one that buys under the table though  ::) ::)

Glad I kept the patterns and measurements  8-) Suppose maybe I should get to making a few once I get moved into the new house. That is if a few people are interested in them. I've got no problem sharing my design. As for the Logo. Well.... I've seen some funny stuff happen during shipping.  :P :-X Ya never know what marks are gonna end up on there.  ::)  Hahahah

Did everyone catch that! Jacob has a "Plain Jane" skillet display stand that he would be glad to sell to you if anyone is interested just let him know!

Hey Jacob how much do you think that you will ask for these "Plain Jane" skillet display stands??

Hmm... Good question. Let me do some thinking on that. I'll have to add up materials, etc. Add a little for my time and then subtract a lil for Wags Memebers  :) (Which I should be shortly as my application is in the works) I'll let ya know. Never knew there would be so much interest in my "Plain Jane" Skillet Rack creation.  :P
