Casserole ID
« on: February 25, 2010, 05:17:43 PM »
Picked this one up in a lot of CI at an auction last weekend. I'm guessing BSR, or Lodge. Any ideas?

Deb wants it for the kitchen. It should come in handy.

Thank you Sam. I missed it completely. At least you knew what it was. Even though you are Lodge person.  ;)

I will have to dissagree, I have 2 of those and from the numbering style classed them as BSR ca 1960s-1970s.  I think there is a thread somewhere about a year or so ago where these were discussed.

That's the thread I was thinking of Dective Chris.  Do you have everything cross indexed or just always get lucky on your searches?

No problem at all Sam, and thank you guys for nailing down. It will get put to good use in the kitchen. It's the only one I've seen. I'd like to find more.

I think Chris has a photographic memory.  ;D

They also made one a little larger that I am looking for, but being "related" to Will  ;D don't want to pay for it.  Some day, some garage sale I'll find it.

This one is a little small, but will make a nice individual, or serving for 2. Deb would like 4 or these all together, so if anyone has one, let me know. Another member has offered 2 of them, so I still need one more.

The bigger one is a No. 10 W   67 H - 1

Now that one sounds like a good size. Do you know if it's any deeper than this one Tom?

Not sure on the actual deminsions, I would think the difference would be comparable to the diminsion difference on same size skillets.
Hey Chris, there is another thread on these somewhere with pictures of the #10 casserole.  Who was that member from the south ( Mississippi ?? ) that had leg/health issues last year.  He had some terific garage sales "in the sun" and commented about how hot the iron got.

You might PM Bobby A. , I seem to remember that he had some of each size.

Tom ,
You are thinking of Jimmy Hale.
As near as I can tell, this thread, and the one I linked, are the only threads on this forum with BS&R casserole dishes.

Rick, can you show the top side of that with the wooden handle.  I am perty sure you have 1 of a 9 piece set consisting of 3 skillets, 2 sauce pans, 1 DO, 3 interchangable glass lids only made for a couple years in the 70s.  That was their "Good Bess" line, but was not all that popular and discontinued.
Here we go again, Chris, there is a thread from Dwayne with a couple pictures of the Good Bess line that he got from one of his contacts at BSR.
