Another identity question?
« on: April 21, 2010, 09:01:56 PM »
Hi from a sort of new person! My wife and I picked this first pan up due to it's unusual nature and hammered finish. There are no identifying marks on this pan any ideas?

The second I think is a shop project as I have not been able to locate any information about the names on the pan. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
David

David,
I don't know anything about your pans, but I fixed up the size for you.

Thanks for fixing the size, first time trying to post pictures need to learn more about it. Also thanks for the comments on the broiler. We picked it up for the same reasons, weighs a lot for it's size. As for the other pan it will remain a mystery.
Thanks
David

The handle on the hammered piece looks CHF to me.. Especially if thats a groove on the underside of the handle and not a rib.. Very nice piece, thanks for sharing it..   :o

Ed, when I first saw it, that's what I thought as well.  I have no proof of anything though.

I'm really liking that grill pan too - nice piece! Don't know who made it, but if I saw one I'd own it too.

Me neither, but the handle looks close to this round broiler, and as far as I know it's CHF.  Steve S. talked of a rectangle CHF hammered broiler many moons ago.
Lets see how these pix look, took them real quick while sitting here..

Ed you are correct the bottom of the handle does have a groove not a rib. It does look alot like the one you posted. Do the CHF items have any markings? this pan is bare. We found it hanging on a wall at an antique store on the Washington coast.

They marked their skillets and most covers with large numbers, 83, 85 ,87 etc. Never seen a marked broiler from them. The broilers have been ID'd from illustrations and descriptions in early catalogs, like Sears & Roebuck..
You'll find them with different styles of hammering also.
Thats a nice piece and a first for me. When or if you get tired of looking at it, I'd love to add it to my hammered items..   ;) ::)

Ed thanks for the information! Unfortunately you would need to fight my wife for this piece, she is the one who really wanted it for a decoration ;D

I would not give it up either, least I got pix of it. Thanks!
Should have added to my previous post, that those markings are on most hammered CHF items. CHF does have a line of fully marked iron, that's not hammered.
