James,
I can honestly say that I have never before seen a Woolworth's gem iron. :o

I can not even guess who may have made these pans for them to sell. Such a shame that that it has no markings to even state where it was cast.

 Thanks for posting it.

That's a new one on me, too.  I know what Chris is thinking... I'd also like to know where that was made.  ;)

Woolworths. Well that is an old name; a “five and dime” chain over your way? I did a google search and that was interesting reading.
I purchased this because I have never seen another Woolworths gem pan, so the Woolworths name on this gem iron led me to believe that it might very well be from your part of the world. Having said that, I am new at this cast iron thing, and there could be hundreds of these laying about.
Not related to your F. W. Woolworths, down here it is a chain of supermarkets that supply food, household items etc, and of recent years, fuel.
From google
Quote
“The similarly-named Woolworth's supermarkets in Australia and New Zealand are operated by Australia's largest retail company Woolworths Limited, a separate company with no historical links to the F.W. Woolworth Company or Foot Locker, Inc. However, Woolworth's Limited did use the name from the original company, as it had not been registered or trademarked in Australia at the time.”
Perhaps this pan was a promotional item, or part of a product line that was produced in a local NZ or Oz foundry?
I will make further enquiries.
