Gris P/N 1035 IM Skillet Lid
« on: October 31, 2013, 04:39:03 PM »
My first skillet lid found in the wild, and it's a Griswold Iron Mountain #8 high dome! I found it on the clearance shelf of a local antiques co-op (it's literally walking distance from my home), priced at $10 and on sale for 20% off. I walked through the rest of the store with it cradled safely in my arms, so that EVERYONE there knew that it was MINE!!!  ;D

There is a bit of paint on the top, which looks like it was scraped off a shelf. It should pop right off with light scrubbing.

This is only my second skillet lid, my first being a #12 BS&R that I inherited from my late grandfather along with the matching skillet. This one I found all on my own though. YAY!! :D

Nice grab. I have only one IM skillet. I found it in the wild as well.

Thanks!! I have two IM skillets, a #4 and #5, both flea market finds. Now I need a #8 IM to put this on! I understand these lids were more commonly found with the IM chicken fryers though... The only Griswold extra deep skillet I have though is a #10! The search continues... ;)

Lee, the Pattern Number seals the deal.
It is listed in the books.(Griswold index) :)

Yep, the pattern number did it for me! I was able to identify it as Griswold, but when I looked it up in the BB I saw that it was IM. Doing research online, I was able to piece together the bit about the chicken fryers.

Now if this had been a #8 IM LOW DOME, you'd STILL be scraping me off the ceiling!  :D
