Griswold 962 Abelskiver pan?

Hello, new guy here, have a question on these pans. Found one of the A marked pans with no Erie, PA. It has rough castings pretty much all over. Which version has the smoothest and best finish? Thanks :)

I was hoping someone else would give a short answer, I'm not known for that ;), so here goes.

Your pan was made by Wagner in Sidney, Ohio sometime after Griswold was bought out in 1957.  The earlier, Erie marked 962 pans are a bit nicer, but don't pay an arm and a leg to get one.

I think BS&R made a better pan.  They have the word Aebleskiver on top of the handle and Made In USA on the bottom.  Nothing else.  Nice smooth hemispherical cups and relatively compact.  They show up on eBay all the time.  One there right now with a Buy It Now of $20.99 or Best Offer.

The smoothest, glass-like finish I've ever seen is on the Wagner 1312 pan made before WWII.  Unbelievable finish.

Tom, thanks for your reply, my wife makes these and does not like the rough casting, but likes cast iron. Most of our cast iron is griswold, was hoping to find a very smooth one, may have to stray to another brand though, Merry Christmas and thanks again.

It was probably too hard to polish inside the small cups.
