Griswold Catalogue reprints?
« on: December 26, 2013, 07:54:49 PM »
In addition to my Griswold iron collection, I already own four Griswold catalogue reprints; three that I purchased from David Smith's site, and the one that was printed as a faux price guide by L&W.  The dates or numbers of all four are 1890-1891, 1904 (catalogue no. 40), 1918 (catalogue no. 47), and 1940-1942. I didn't order the hotel/restaurant catalogue E-39 that is availible from David Smith's site when I ordered the other three, since it sounds in his description like it has more to do with large-scale commercial equipment than with household-sized cast iron .  I'm wondering two things.  First, can anybody that has seen a reprint of catalogue E-39 tell me if they think that it has as much merit to a Griswold iron collector as the other four that I already mentioned?  In other words, does it have information for things like skillets and griddles, or is it all big hot plates and ovens and such?  Second, is there any other source for Griswold catalogue reprints, either scans that are available on-line or reprints that are available for purchase at a reasonable price?  I don't even know if other reprints exist, but the ones that I've been able to find leave a gap in the '20s and '30s.  Thank you for your help.

Adam, I don't have an answer for your specific question, but there are lots of Griswold scans on the dark side (WAGS member side).

Click on the general heading where the Foundry List and Patents are.  The at the top you will see a sticky called All PDF.  They are alphabetical.  Lots to see.

These have been purchased then scanned and donated by WAGS members for the most part.

Thank you for cueing me into this, Tom.  I've just started to skim through the list, and I'm wowed.  I need to find a better cushion for this chair...

Glad you found it Adam.  One of my favorites is the Waffle Iron bulletin.  There's a table down toward the bottom that lists the various bases and paddles that go together by their pattern numbers.

Hello Adam. You might also want to go to the section of items for sale by WAGS members. I have had two Griswold catalogs reprinted. You may want to check them out. Thanks.  :)
