Erie #7 - Interesting
« on: January 15, 2014, 03:02:12 PM »
From Facebook land.
Travis B. has come across a #7 Erie skillet, that is worthy of some discussion, so I am starting this thread here with a picture of the skillet in question.

This IS a Sixth Series ERIE, but..... can anyone spot what is causing questions to arise???

Hopefully I will have a few more pictures of this piece to post soon .
Also hoping for some other information from Travis in the near Future.

Wow. What will we call that? ;D A WHR (wide hr), an inset bottom? Have never seen that before. Would like to see that all cleaned up. Curious for sure!

Roy said he would classify as a 6th Series.
but has not seen this bottom before.... which is why more pics and measurements are important.

Added more pictures above:

What I am seeing measurement wise is:
Inner Dia. inside bottom :  8 1/4"

Top Handle Length:  4 3/4"

Top Diameter:  9 7/8"

Pour Spout to Pour Spout: 19 5/8"

Bottom Diameter:   ?  Travis you may need to remeasure the bottom and post exact....

I do not have any Sixth Series 7's to compare to.

Does anyone have measurements of theirs? To evaluate as possible recast...  Center of bottom appears to be rough casting to me...

Yeah I can go get better measurements. I was holding tape with one hand taking pic with other. and had a kid on my neck. Serious multitasking achievement. they may be a little off.

I've got one just like that. sets better on my smooth top stove and does not warp up.

                                       Wide band ERIE 6th      ERIE 6th 701 F
Inside bottom diameter:               8¼"              about 8¼" (hard to tell due to coving)
Top Handle Length:                      4¾"                  4 7/8”
Top Diameter:                            9 7/8"                 9 7/8"  (outside to outside)
Bottom Diameter                           ?                  about 9” (again, coving)
Bottom Diameter, inside HR            ?                     7 3/8” (inside to inside)
Pour Spout to Pour Spout:         19 5/8"               10 5/8” (outside to outside)
(presume the Wide band measurement is actually 10 5/8")
Best Regards,
Neal
