SS would point out that it really isn't pre-Griswold as it is Griswold.  It's just the logo they used at the time.   ;) ;D ::)

I know... I know... ::) ::)
But poll author decided they deserved a class category, all their own! ::) ::)

So in an effort to clarify and please all, poll author has now slightly adjusted the category descriptions.... :D

Go ERIE's ! :) 8-)

PS.....But Roger, that's what they call them on Ebay! ::) ::)

Ahh, but best for what? I love cooking on my Wapak and Erie skillets, but love the look of gate marked pans and Indian heads hanging on my wall most of all. Since Wapak made the Indian heads, my vote goes to....  ;D

My cooking experience is limited to Wagner and Lodge (I've "collected" a few others, but no cooking) so I don't feel qualified to vote.

But, I thought that if it was flat, smooth, and well-seasoned, then they were all the "best" ;)

Like Stuart, I don't feel I've cooked in enough different varieties to qualify for an official vote, so I'll have to abstain.

But unofficially, I'm with the poll author. Those skillets are amazing!

I really don't have enough of a variety to give a well versed opinion. However, of the ones I do have, I love my Favorite Piqua and Wapak.

I will cook with anything except pieces that still have their label and the famous "last piece" griddle with the initials cast on the bottom. My favorite skillet to cook with is the large block smooth bottoms. I only collect Griswold so I don't know about the other brands.
Hold still rabbit, so I can cook you.

I like those old gate marked skillets! Nice light weight, and being like Will, usually pretty cheap!
