The lid has, like Lodge a retaining groove that does a good job on keep the lid on, but the fit, not all that good. Look at the next pic. If you go up from between the left most two fingers you will see an external notch. There are 5 of these on this lid, apparently the pattern maker made the retaining groove to small so they added something on the pattern to try to make the lid diameter larger so it would fit better into the oven part of the spider. The next pic of the top of the lid shows the overall unevenness of this lid. The ridge inside the coal retaining ring wobbles and weaves like a sailor on leave. Overall not the best quality work, but you don't see spiders that often, and Martins even less, so I got her. :)
