Wagner Shallow Skillet
« on: October 01, 2014, 09:31:00 AM »
Here are some photos of a “Wagner” #9 shallow skillet I found recently. The Red and Blue books have examples of this pan with one exception. This pan has 4 holes in the handle, not 1,2 or 3. I know I’ve read somewhere here that others have examples of this pan with 4 holes. I was thrilled to find this pan; because, it is quite old. The 1940's Wagner catalog calls these Johnny Cake Skillets. It shows a 3-hole example. Do earlier Wagner catalogs depict 4-hole shallow skillets? Can anyone add information regarding the evolution of this pan? Please post more pictures if you have them.
Thanks.

I like it! Although not marked like yours, maybe this would help in the evolution, but I leave that to others much better at that than I. John K. had a whole bunch of these in the convention in Canton :o, I didn't find any pictures of the Wagner with 4 holes, but don't have all the catalogs.
