Wagner Ware 3569 Hammered Finish Aluminum Skillet with Lid
« on: April 24, 2015, 07:07:02 PM »
I have a chance to pick up a Wagner Ware Hammered Finish Cast Aluminum Skillet with matching lid, It is a deep skillet and the lid has basting rings, Part number 3569 on the bottom of the Skillet, Black wood handle, Nice deep skillet, What would a fair price be for an item like this, Were these pieces very common and when were the made?
If I get it I will post some pics

Ok, I couldn't stand it and I just had to go buy it, here are some pics, Now any tips on cleaning, I am guessing a lye bath is out with aluminum, I noticed that this was not marked Magnalite, Was this before or after the Magnalite series came out

Whenever I get the time to try and remove the bail on the DO, I will be putting mine thru the Self Cleaning Oven cycle.  Your skillet would need the wooden handle removed. :)

Definitely NO LYE.  Lye dissolves aluminum. :)

Hi Cheryl, Nice DO, Thanks for confirming about the lye, I was pretty sure it was a no no with Aluminum, Are the Magnalite pieces aluminum or are they Magnesium

Magnalite is a blend I believe, of Aluminum and Magnesium (or is it Manganese? )   Somewhere I have a WAGNER ad that describes it... but don't know where it is right now..  :D or maybe in a catalog...  :-? I have so many files, I can't find half of them... :P :P

Needless to say, I don't trust putting the MAGNALITE thru the Self Cleaning Oven for fear of melting it...

So if anyone out there has tried SCO and Magnalite, I'd be interested in the results.. :)

The heavier 'regular' cast aluminum like your skillet, and my DO should do fine in the SCO.
