Number 3 in Diamond Skillet & 5' Spider D.O.-52
« on: May 03, 2015, 07:23:46 AM »
Picked up a few pieces on Saturday, A nice little number 3 skillet with a diamond with a number 3 in it and a small spider (5") with D.O.-52 on the bottom, I am guessing the number 3 skillet is a Chicago Hardware Foundry although it is not hammer finished and has a very unique bottom, instead of a heat ring the bottom is actually recessed , The little spider which measures 5" across the opening and is 2" deep is marked D.O.-52 on the bottom, My guess is that it is a childs toy but that is only a guess

The jury is still out on that one.  No one knows with absolute certainty who made it.

Yes it is small, I am guessing a childs toy or similar, The number D.O.52 on the bottom makes me wonder if they signified Dutch Oven 5" x 2" because it is 5" wide x 2" deep

Here are a few more pics of the pan after I cleaned it up, The number 3 in a diamond is at the 6 oclock position and on the right next to it is a smaller number 1 and a dot, at the 3 oclock position is another dot.

Are these marks common with any other manufacturers.

Looking at the bottom of this skillet would this be considered an outside heat ring and is this style bottom used on any other manufacturer.
