"SIDNEY" 3 Leg Spider Number 8

Just picked up a nice "SIDNEY" 3 leg spider with a number 8 on the bottom, The bottom design looks like it was also designed to fit in a stove eye. Here are some pics, Someone painted it but overall it does not look too bad, I can see some rust scale in the bottom that was painted over but the bottom looks solid and sounds solid when I tap gently on it. The "SIDNEY" is set at 1/2" below center of the pot.
My understanding that the Block letter "SIDNEY" marked pieces were after Sidney Hollow ware sold to Wagner, Is there any way to accurately date a piece like this, My guess is pre 1900 but was Wagner also producing Wagner marked pieces and still producing Sidney marked pieces at the same time.

Hello Valerie. When I think of a spider I think of a three leged skillet. I would call this a three leged pot. But thats just me. I found a number three 'Sidney' the other day. I don't know how common they are. I see the BB lists one.

This piece appears to be a "Low Kettle".

as opposes "Lipped Kettle", "Regular Kettle", "Flat Bottom Kettle", "Rimmed Kettle",  to name 'just a few'...

Pot just doesn't come close to describing the many styles and varieties.

The bail ears on this kettle are NOT consistent with the bail ears shown in the early 1900's catalog, but are consistent with the bail ears shown in the 1915 Wagner catalog...

So IMO this piece is after 1910 or so....

When I think of spider I think of an 8 legged insect with a separate head and body so I am still trying to figure out why they call them spiders anyway.

Now when I think of kettle I always think of a tea kettle but then there are those kettle chips so I guess they couldn't put chips in a tea kettle so kettle kinda makes sense, It measure 7" high so if it is a low kettle a high kettle must be pretty tall,.
Well did I at least get the bottom shaped for a stove eye right...c'mon guys/gals Ya gotta give me something :-/
