Two Burner Stove

Hello all, I've been on the Facebook page for a while (Scott Messenger) and decided to start an account over here for more research and information.

I've got my eye on a two burner stove that's in need of restoration, but appears complete with surface rust only. Ultimate goal for this piece is to be a user during my family camping trips.

I've got two questions:
1) Once cleaned of rust and crud, what's the proper way to protect the iron? Oil and heat seasoning?  Dare I say paint, like an enamel or something heat tolerant?
2) It seems straight forward to make the switch to propane. Are there any threads outlining this process? I did a quick search under "two burner" and "stove"  but didn't pull anything useful.

Nice cleanup on that Gris. Now I might have to buy the 2 burner stove i've been eyeballing.

Thank you Cheryl!! I knew this was the right place.

Looks like paint it is then. I didn't want to ruin the piece, but I've got too much German blood to own something that I don't use. LOL And the heat proof paint will make it easy to use and clean after each use.

Scott, a helpful hint when using the Forum search functions....

Click on the search TAB and do a more thorough search.

The search box in the upper right corner will only return posts within the last 30 days.  :)

(The next Forum upgrade will improve the quick search, but until then the Search Tab is the way to go... )

The Search Tab takes a bit of getting used to, just make sure you chose "All Posts" from the drop down, and check the box to display only one post per thread... :)

Some of the Griswold's have adjustable valves (my 202 does). No disassembly, 2 turns with a 1/2" wrench close for propane, 2 turns open for natural gas. Beautiful design. Only problem with the apartment stoves like that is outdoors, the wind. (Make a foldable windscreen!)
