CHAMBERLAIN & CO. CIN'TI. O. (any information welcome!)
« on: August 13, 2015, 12:10:55 PM »
"CHAMBERLAIN & CO. CIN'TI. O."

I am trying to find out some more information on a cast iron piece that I got from my grandpa.  It is a long handeled, three leg skillet/oven that is 12 inches across and not quite 3 inches deap  the lid is marked clearly on the top with "CHAMBERLAIN & CO. CIN'TI. O." and there is also a "No 1" on there in the center of the lid and on the underside of the lid there is a "1"  I am not having much luck finding out anything about chamberlain other that they have a patented teapot and made cast iron banks.  I was hoping to be able to find out an age and guess on value, although I have no intentions of selling, since it is a family piece.  I inherited many cast iron pieces from my grandpa, mostly Wagner and Griswold.  They are relatively easy to find information on, but this piece has me a bit stumped.  Any help or direction you are able to provide is greatly appreciated.  Thank you in advance!

Kalli, welcome to our site. What a nice piece. Age would be early 1850's to late 1870's. Then the name changed. Value?...well, my feelings are, being it was your grandpa's, that makes it even more special. Good to hear from & see some of your family's pieces. You may want to consider joining us...lot's of things here to learn & see! Hope this helps.

I looked at our foundries section and I see that we do not have a picture of that lid in the Chamberlain & Co. section. Can somebody please speak up and say what needs to be done? Thanks.  :)

What an awesome piece. I mean....that piece is probably bad luck. You should send it to me before the bad luck rubs off on you. I must hearth cook in it in order to remove the curse. Or if you would like you can just send it to me and it will be like the both of ours. We can share it. It just has to stay at my house. I'm jk. Love the piece. Can't believe the covers not lost. How long is the handle? If you do decide to part with it. I'm your guy.

Perry, I have a bit in my files for this. Just need some day to add for our list on the membership side. :) Stay tuned on the members side...possibly a whole lot of data coming on many foundry's (as soon as it gets sorted out).  ;)
