Normally I would suspect a skillet with a one notch smoke ring is a Lodge but without photos it is almost impossible to identify.
Have you tried looking in the Red or Blue Books, If you do not have them they are available for purchase online and a worthwhile investment.

I believe that I have this same Lodge hammered skillet, with lid, though I think mine would be considered plated.  It is not shiny chrome. It is a #8, chicken fryer, single notch, with heat rim.
Will try to post some pix later.

The Red Book has a nice section on Lodge.  Chrome is plating, so if it is chromed then it is plated.

Did Lodge plate anything with chrome or nickel? Maybe it was an "after market" job?

I will stand corrected, my set is most likely nickel plated.

Patients Robert, I had to get mine down from storage in the garage and take fresh pictures, then resize those.  I think mine are what Ellis describe as highly polished Nickel, which does resemble chrome..  I have the #8 skillet with lid and the #8 chicken fryer with lid, there are also a #3 skillet, a #7 griddle, and a #8 Dutch oven that I know of that are in this set.  They are Lodge, as far as I know.
