Having trouble finding Keeley information
« on: August 30, 2017, 02:00:13 PM »
I inherited an OLD and RUSTY Keeley waffle iron from my grandparents' estate.  I am in the process of laying some seasoning on it now and hope to take it on it's maiden voyage (with me) this weekend.

It is made to use on a wood stove and pivots around the middle axis, not like the edge pivot on my wagner.

Anyway, I am having a hard time finding any info on this waffle iron.  Can anyone point me to any reference material about Keeley?

Chris, if it's the fancy Victorian style pattern on the paddles, those are just neat. They do seem to be regional (close proximity of one another)Several foundries in the area made waffle irons , and all are almost identical to one another (using similar patterns). Not sure if this is what you have.
Here is the Kelley story...it will help give you an idea of their history.  Here are a few,  by different foundries, and/or owners ( # 6's). Royers Ford, Columbia, and Springville, Pa.(Spring City later) The Keeley is the upper right one. Hope this helps.

Wow Jim, those waffle irons look like they were taken right off of a Kings dining table. They are absolutely beautiful. Thank you for posting them.  :)

My Keeley looks just like your top right one. . .

The wife got three seasonings on it yesterday, so I am really hoping to give it a go this weekend!

Do you use yours Jim or are they just for show?  I've got several old pans from MaMaw too.  Love them all.  But one is a spinner.

I remember her cooking on an old fashioned wood cook stove as a child.  And I'm not that old . . .

Just how old are you that you are 'not that old'?

Just curious.  :-/ :)

Chris, while I have used a few, I don't use the # 6's ( I focus on that size), but have plenty of others that I can use.  At over 100 waffle irons, I have plenty to choose from-LOL.  I cook with iron (small logo  Griswold skillets) that I keep on our counter.   :)

I absolutely refuse to count how many WI's I currently own....
I need to continue in my denial...

(But I know it isn't as many as many other people I know... ;)  )

I have yet to cook a single waffle... I guess I never liked waffles much thru life, and if I do start making them, then the Waffle Man who lives here, will expect them all the time!

But he ain't touching my prized Waffle Irons...... ;D ;D :P :P
