That sounds like a great slogan. Let's run with it. I know enough auctioneers. Maybe we could have them schedule some good CI auctions to coincide with the convention. Or at least a big Flea Market. I've seen some real nice hard to find items at these flea markets around here. Of course they are asking top dollar, but we all know that you can afford it Perry.  ;)

Chuck, that sounds great, yes, lets run with it. What was the topic here, oh yes the convention, I think conventions are great, we should have one in Pennsylvania, and if Larry and Sue Fox want to host it, I think thats wonderful. Chuck, I don't think you know Larry and Sue Fox, look in your BB and you'll see them mentioned. I think half the stuff in the BB belongs to Larry Fox, and the rest belongs to Sue Fox. They are extremely nice people.

They must have all the real good stuff then. I'll have to get to know these folks.  ;)

I've been posting on here for almost a year, and it would be nice to finally meet some of the folks. I'm looking forward to a convention in my neck of the woods. I'm no golfer, and I can't cook in a CO, but to be able to meet everyone, and see some of the beautiful iron that I've seen on here, and maybe even get to hold a Griswold #1 in my hand if only for a few seconds for a picture, and discuss whether Wapak used an ERIE pattern or an ERIE skillet to make their molds, and to maybe even see that nice blue set of Favorite WI's that Perry has. I can't wait. I promise to bring some of my CI if anyone is intrested in seeing any of it.

Roger,
 I got some software. ;)

If anyone at the convention wants to post pics and can't , because the forum limits pics to one meg, just email them to me, and I'll fix them and put them up.

So that's Joel. He is well known at the Extravaganza at Renningers Farmers Market. Everywhere that I stopped to ask about C I, they said that Joel had been through. I'll have to get there a little earlier, and meet the man in person. Thanks Katrina. So that's you. Lucky man that Gomez.  ::) 8-)

The Convention is a Must!

This is my first convention.  For anyone that collects cast iron this convention is a must.

Aside from meeting great people and socializing in the hospitality room there is a wealth of knowledge here.  I have met the people that have written the books.  The workshops have increased my knowledge greatly…things like how to tell the age of a pan from its handle,  the ability to pick up and feel repo’s with cards that tell you how to spot that it is not real and the ability to see items I never knew existed like vapor griddles.

On the trip to the giant flea market I walked around with people more knowledgeable than myself and had their expertise at hand for each piece that caught my attention.  They could check and tell me the condition and whether the price was right or whether to wait for the next one to come along.  What a great opportunity.

The swap meet gave me an opportunity to purchase nicely cleaned and seasoned cast iron at favorable prices from members.  For some of the ones I could not afford, it showed me what to look for in my next flea market search.

So all of you members must make the time and effort to be at the next convention. You won’t regret it.

See you next year!

Will, Larry Foxx put on a nice workshop on vapor griddles yesterday.  I missed getting pictures, hope someone will post their pictures.  I had no idea there were so many.

Another and workshop and Favorite Display still to go this afternoon.  I love seeing the Favorites.  Social hour and Banquet yet to go this evening.  Mrs. B and I are having a great time again this year.

Wallet lighter and car load heavier after the Swap Meet this A.M.   :)  Mike
