Lots of people are making their way home now. It didn't take me so long this time.  ;)  I brought lots of iron to sell and lots to show and was able to do both.  I hope all enjoyed it.  I really had a blast and got the opportunity to meet new people and learn new things.  My only regret is that I didn't get to meet more people and put more faces with  names.  A big thanks again to Russ and Sandy for hosting.  The economy has hurt things I know and there are always conflicts that pop up that are out of our control, but if you can, and are willing, I hope to see you in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.  Larry and Sue Foxx are hosting.

Roger,
I know you had a display of bottom gated skillets to show. I hope that there will be pictures and discussion on the forum about these items for those that were unable to attend.
Of all the things that the convention had to offer, your display, and the opportunity to discuss these items is what I would have enjoyed the most.

Chris

Chris, unfortunately I got busy looking at the other displays and didn't end up taking pictures of my table.  Michelle had a nice table of them as well and I did take some pictures of hers.  I tried to sneak a few and put them on my table, but man she is tough. ;D

Two of them caught my eye in particular.  This one is really just awesome.

This one and the previous one, I tried to steal with no luck.  I cut the end of the handle off in the photo, but it's heart shaped.  Never seen anything like it before.

Thanks Roger,
Those single lipped skillets are possibly some of the earliest stove top skillets ever made.
I sure do hope to be able to attend the next convention.

Now those are some fancy handle right there. I've seen a couple of the designs, but those last 2, I've never seen, and are real nice. Thanks for posting them. Th esingle spouts, and bottom gates are something I look for when I'm hunting cast iron.

Sunday night......Our last night at the Southfork Hotel, we'll be leaving tomorrow (Mon) around 1:30 pm, heading for home.  Lynne and I had a great time at the convention and enjoyed meeting new friends and seeing many members again.  Thanks again to Sandy and Russ, and all those that helped them, for doing such a wonderful job in putting this 2009 convention together.  It was so nice to put faces with familiar names and to get to know them.  We are already looking forward to Carlisle, Penn. in 2010.  Thanks again to all who helped, participated in, and made this a successful convention.

Gail and I would like to say thanks to Sandy and Russ also. Everything sure went well. This was our first and we know there will be more. We met alot of wonderful people and would like to say thanks to them also. We bought 3 Griswold pieces, a 2008, 2028 and the proper lid to fit.We have never seen these and we are thrilled. We bought a Wagner skillet rack that we never see around here, and thrilled with it also. Great time and great people, it doesn't get any better than that.

We made it home last night.  It was really another great time at the convention!!  Thanks Sandy and Russ for putting it all together!  I picked up a few pieces to fill in some holes in sets I'm putting together.  As others have stated it's always great to see old friends, meet new ones, and put faces to names on the forum.  For those that have not got to attend a convention there are also lots of WAGS members that are not active on the forum but regularly attend the conventions.  Many of those members are long time collectors and have lots of valuable knowledge and information to share.  Already looking forward to PA in 2010.  Mike

A big THANK YOU to Russ and Sandy Weimer for an outstanding convention!  Your hard work made this one of the best ever.  I had a wonderful time!

It was great to see everyone again; and I really enjoyed meeting all the first time attendees... there were many -- from charter members to people who just recently joined.

The workshops were most informative.  Thank you to all the presenters for sharing your knowledge.

By the way, the iron (both at the swap meet and the favorites displays) was some of the nicest I've ever seen.  I should have brought more home with me. :)
