My name is David and I am a new member. I live outside of Colorado Springs, Co. I have been collecting Cast Iron (mostly cookware) for about 18 months. I love the hunt.

Greetings my friends!

I am new to this forum, so forgive me if I am a little clumsy with this new subject.

I have a few classic Griswold and Wagner pieces that I relish and enjoy, and use often.  My favorite is a simple Griswold skillet that I can cook eggs on easier than any non stick modern pan. 

My friends know that I collect any cast iron, regardless of its condition.  They bring me pieces that they do not use or want.
I had a friend bring me 2 cast iron fry pans last year, as he didn't use them.  1, a 7" fry pan, clearly had a "Taiwan" mark on the bottom and distinct rings on the surface of the pan.  The other one, an 8'" fry pan was undistinguished.  I wrote them both off as modern cast iron.

However, today I brought home a steak to cook (we don't eat that very often) and wanted to cook it on a cast iron pan.  I brought out the 8" pan and looked closer at it.  It was pretty grungy and I did the  most unforgivable.  I applied scouring powder and scrubbed it.  (I do know how to take the most horrible cast iron and make it look like new!).  However, I did not take this piece seriously.

But, after dishonoring this piece, I ran my fingers over the surface of the pan and thought to myself that this was so smooth that it peaked my curiosity as to where this piece came from.  Was it possible that a modern manufacturer could produce such a surface?

So I looked it up and am unsure of my results.  So please inform me as to the history.

It is a "Good Health" - "Skillet 8"  - "658"

From what I can find, it is a Griswold made skillet, circa 1920 -1930.

Is that true?  Any additional info would be great.
